The Tetsujin series is a collaboration between Myojin-san and Tomura-san. Resting at the core of this blade is Blue #2 and it is wrapped in a brilliantly mirror-polished and kasumi damascus cladding. The finish on this knife is absolutely stunning and took our collective breath away when it arrived at the shop. This is a unique damascus that was hand forged in their workshop as a concept they were playing around with. Jon was able to see this knife in-person when visiting their workshop in 2024.
The Tetsujin knives also feature a bit more blade height than many similar Sakai-made wa-gyuto. These guys have been making quite a name for themselves with high-performing and extremely well-made knives. The handle is made from Granadillo (Platymiscium spp.) and the knife comes with a magnolia saya.
Granadillo, also known as Mexican Rosewood, is a feast for the eyes, with vibrant reds and oranges beautifully woven together with deep brown and black veins. Some woods are prized for their rich color, while others for their striking patterns. This one has the best of both worlds.
