Ikazuchi 135mm Stainless Clad White #1 Wa-Petty

  • The Ikazuchi series is a JKI original line. While the original Ikazuchi features a blue super core with stainless cladding, these have a white #1 core. Whereas blue super is geared towards excellent edge retention, white #1 prioritizes ease of sharpening and edge taking. Being higher in carbon content than white #2, it is an improvement upon white #2 in terms of edge retention, but not quite in the same range as blue super. The white #1 Ikazuchi have more distal taper than their blue super counterparts, starting off a bit thicker at the heel, but working up to a super thin tip. While they appear to be wide-bevel knives, they are in fact subtly convex from spine to edge. The heat treatment of these is less brittle than white #1 you may see from Sakai or Sanjo, making this a little easier to avoid chipping with. They come with ho wood octagon handles and ho wood sayas.
