These scissors are pruning scissors used for cutting small branches. They can also be used for many kitchen tasks. I have even seen a yakitori chef use scissors like these to trim the burnt edges from grilled food. They would also make great general craft scissors.
These scissors are hand-forged from blue #2 steel with softer iron cladding. The black finish on the blades is called a kurouchi finish and is the residual scale from the forging process.
