Magnetic Knife Strip: Zebrawood 18"

Steve has done it again. A more austere approach to the recent work he has been doing, this monochromatic monk is pensive and stoic, and pairs perfectly with the Gesshin Kagekiyo White #2 Wa-Gyuto. These knives represent some of the highest levels of craftsmanship and quality we have seen. The blacksmiths, sharpeners, and even lacquerware craftsmen are all amazingly skilled, as can clearly be seen by simply looking at them. In fact, all of the craftsmen are certified craftsmen or dentou-kougeishi (a very prestigious honor). These knives have amazing fit and finish, spectacular grinds, and amazing geometry. They are really thin behind the edge, have great distal taper, and wide bevels, making them easier to thin and sharpen.

We enjoy Flitz Polish in our shop for rust and patina removal on carbon steel kitchen knives and tools. This new product for us is intended to be a solution for long term storage to protect your tools against oxidation from the elements, whether in storage or on display.

To use this, spray onto an applicator, such as a cotton round, and wipe in small sections. Before the spray dries, buff with a clean microfiber towel. 

Quilted Maple (Acer Macrophyllum) is a medium hardwood from the coastal regions of Pacific North America. The "quilted" part of the name comes from the grain anomaly found in areas of trauma or insect/fungus attacks on the Bigleaf Maple tree. The "quilts" refract light in a shimmery, eye-catching way that look like ocean waves. These knife racks are made by our friend Steve Preeg in Murietta, CA. Canarywood (Centrolobium spp.) is an exotic hardwood from Central and South America, ranging from Panama to Brazil. The colors of canarywood, although generally a cast of yellow, can actually come in a rainbow that gradually homogenizes into a yellow hue similar to canary birds. It is commonly used to build speakers and other audio equipment because of its excellent acoustic properties. These knife racks are made by our friend Steve Preeg in Murietta, CA.
