Spoons

This series of tableware is made of Water Buffalo Horn, not unlike the ferrules commonly found on Japanese-style handles.  They are extremely well-finished and have a nice polish.  Being a natural material, the color and pattern may vary greatly (the actual product may vary from photos).

The Chasaji is a spoon traditionally used for measuring tea. This spoon holds approx. 5ml of water.

The renge is a type of soup spoon commonly used across Asia.  They will often be found at ramen shops, and tend to be shorter and wider overall.  The name refers to the shape being similar to a lotus petal.

The curry spoon is a larger spoon that can be more general purpose but is often used for curry and hayashi rice in japan.  The bowl is also deep enough to be used for soups and stews in general.

The Quenelle Spoon is the brainchild of Jenner Tomaska and Jake Bensfield.  Made from 18/10 Stainless steel, coming in at 9.25" long and 35g, their goal was to have a spoon that would work amazingly well for Quenelles and other plating tasks in a professional environment.  The tip shape is a bit more pointed for a great quenelle shape.  The back end of the handle features a small flat spot that can be used as a small spatula or for plating design work.

The well is formed deep to cradle liquid - one tablespoon exactly, to help with recipe continuity and reduce the amount of tools needed on hand - and pointed at the tip for precise pouring or basting. The handle is long enough to stir a braise or a pot of beans and nimble enough to sauce a plate. The lip is thin and flared to help scrape the corners of a pan or storage container. Inspired by the worn and tarnished steel often found at flea markets, and modeled after old American and European silhouettes the spoon is tumbled and unpolished. This creates a matte and imperfect material finish. Each piece is stamped and etched, then finished by hand on a lathe.
