The scene of this tenugui takes in Yoshiwara where used to be a famous red-light district (red-light district) in Edo, present-day Tokyo, Japan. This tenugui design is based on a a well-known ukiyoe print of Jigoku Tayu. She started naming herself as "Jigoku" (meaning "hell"), believing her misfortune is karma from her previous life.
