Fujiwara Teruyasu Hamono Kogei

- Fujiwara Teruyasu Knife Craft -

Traditional forging combined with modern techniques in these hand-made knives by Fujiwara Teruyasu.

Fujiwara Teruyasu takes great pride in his knives... From the forging to the heat treatment, he takes great pride in making amazingly functional knives... hand crafted art made to be used.

The company was established in 1872 and from the very begining Fujiwara Tarayasu has been making Japanese swords.  However, in modern society, swords have become art rather than functional pieces...people do not have chances to test edges of swords.  Therefore the company decided to use traditional sword making techniques and skills to make knives that are practical tools for use in everyday life.

The authentic handmade knives that the fourth generation Fujiwara makes are not just sharp... they take great edges, have great edge retention, and are a pleasure to sharpen.  Fujiwara has a motto of having a good long relationships with the people who use their “issyomono” (lifelong tools).  Because of this commitment, Fujiwara takes great pride in doing every aspect of their knife-making in house.
